Every donation, large or small, helps us run the Friend of Horton Cemetery, uncovering the stories of those buried there, and working towards securing its future.

Our day-to-day work has real costs. For example, our volunteers currently spend their own money buying Birth, Marriage, and/or Death certificates from the GRO, helping us piece together the story of someone buried at Horton. Whilst a membership to Ancestry, Newspaper archives, FindMyPast can easily cost ~£150 for an annual subscription. Again our volunteers pay for this themselves right now.

But we also have a much bigger ambition. We may in the future have an opportunity to purchase the cemetery land, protecting it for the future and ensuring that the people buried there are treated with the dignity and respect they deserve.

If that opportunity arises, we will need to raise significant funds to purchase and then repair years of neglect. Every contribution helps us continue our work today — and brings us a little closer to being able to secure and protect Horton Cemetery for generations to come.
