Baroness Sheila Hollins becomes Patron

Baroness Sheila Hollins has joined Freemen and Aldermen of the Borough, the local MP and others as a Patron of the Friends of Horton Cemetery, adding her support to the charity’s work to remember the thousands of people buried in the historic cemetery.

Her patronage comes as the Friends continue their efforts to ensure that the stories of more than 9,000 women, men and children buried there are not forgotten.

Horton Cemetery is the final resting place of patients who were buried in pauper graves, and research by community genealogical volunteers has been helping to recover the identities and life histories of those whose stories might otherwise have disappeared from public memory.
